About Our Medical Director

Dr. John Barkmeier has served as our center’s Medical Director since 1978, the same year be began as a family physician at Thedarcare, where he was placed in charge of developing a long-term care service in 2010, serving six centers in the Fox Cities area.

Dr. Barkmeier attended medical school at the University of Iowa and completed his family practice residency at the Medical College of Virginia, Riverside Hospital in Newport News.

He serves as the President of the Fox Valley Technical College Foundation Board and is a member of the American Academy of Medical Directors, American Academy of Family Physicians, Wisconsin State Medical Society, and the Winnebago Medical Society.

When he has free time, Dr. Barkmeier enjoys spending time with his three grandchildren, golfing, fishing, traveling, and photography.
